It was great to finally meet one of our Still Loved sponsors and supporters, Marcus Markou, Director of Papadopoulos and Sons and hear all about his methos of making his film and distributing himself. A great inspiration indeed.
We've just returned from a fantastic few days at Edinburgh International Film Festival, promoting Still Loved and meeting with industry professinals that can help us get the film out there. What a fantastic festival it is, and such a beautiful city. We watched some excellent films and attended some great workshops and industry sessions, as well as having time to take in some of the beautiful scenery. Beatrice Neumann ran a fantastic 2 day event, Distribution Rewired, which was incredibly insightful looking at different ways of distributing and releasing films and reaching a wider audience. The round table sessions were incredibly helpful and we met some fantastic people and organisations here including Ourscreen. It was great to finally meet one of our Still Loved sponsors and supporters, Marcus Markou, Director of Papadopoulos and Sons and hear all about his methos of making his film and distributing himself. A great inspiration indeed. It was great to meet Joseph Bull and the team behind Blood Cells, Produced by our good friend Samm Haillay of Third Films, to catch up with Sarah Tierney of We Are Colony, Rebecca Day of the Scottish Documentary Institute and many others. Thanks to Edinburgh International Film Festival for putting on a fantatsic event and we'll see you again next year!

The Still Loved team have just spent a busy and incredibly productive week at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival, one of the world's best film documentary film festivals - and in our home town! It was a very busy week for us, having many meetings and promoting Still Loved to programers, exhibitors and distributors around the world. We had a lot of interest from Distributors and Sales Agents, but are still considering all our options at the moment. There was a great deal of excitment and support for Still Loved and we can't wait for the film to be completed and get the film out to film festivals as soon as possible. We saw some fantastic films at the festival this year including our talented friend and Sheffield filmmaker Dan Gordon's Match 64: The Maracanā along with Relish, a short film about Sheffield's favourite sauce: Henderson's Relish. Dark Horse was a firm favouirte, Directed by Louise Osmond and Edited by Still Loved editor Joby Gee. Other highlights were My Beautiful Broken Brain Directed by Lotje Sodderland and Sophie Robinson, A Syrian Love Story by Sean McAllister, The Russian Woodpecker Directed by Chad Gracia, Kim Longinotto's Dreamcatcher and Kirby Dick's The Hunting Ground amogst many others. We now have 3 months to watch all the ones we missed on the Videotech. Our Producer Polly Perkins ran a panel discussion and a workshop about funding proposoal writing which was fantastic and incredibly insightful. Her expert panelists were Tracie Holder a freelance filmmaker and brilliant funding proposal writer from New York, Dr Lisa Lazareck from the Wellcome Trust, Leslie Finely from Scottish Screen and Cristina Ljungberg from Britdoc/Influence Film Foundation. Enormous thanks for sharing their knowledge and insight with us all. We attended some great parties, BBC, Channel 4, Molinare and BFI amongst others and it was a great chance to catch up with many colleagues and friends from around the world and do a lot of networking. Thanks to everyone that met with us at Doc Fest to discuss Still Loved, we're looking forward to building on our relationships and working together in the future. Big thanks to all the staff at Doc Fest for making it another great festival and to all the wonderful volunteers that keep everything running smoothly for the thousands of delegates that attend. It's great to see our home town buzzing with activity and amazing filmmaking talent. We're looking forward to 2016's festival. Next up for us is Edinburgh International Film Festival which we'll be attending for a few days next week to do more promotion for Still Loved. |
